Overview

Basic Function:       

 

Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely dispatching of field crews in response to emergency calls for lifting/recovery and other specialty services.  Responsible for ensuring the accurate, efficient transmission and recording of data/information related to man-hours, materials and equipment for jobs/contracts/emergency services in order that customer billing processes will be timely and inclusive of all labor/materials/equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 

  1. Responsible for responding to customers’ requests for emergency services.  Efficiently and effectively dispatch emergency crews to carry out service requirements.
  2. Obtains permits for over-weight and over-sized load trucks/equipment.  Develops and utilized knowledge of routes and road restrictions.  Works with other Cranemasters’ personnel to identify and select most efficient routes in order minimize detours and ensure that travel is not impeded by way of construction/weight restrictions, etc.
  3. Responsible for providing excellent customer service, primarily via telephone.  Handles internal and external customer requests to ensure accurate recording of information, timely relay of information and follows-up as needed to ensure service delivery is complete.
  4. Sets-up job numbers and files.  Maintains job log.
  5. Makes arrangements for over-night accommodations as requested for traveling work crews.
  6. Call in relief crews as directed.  Assists in managing associated logistics for man-power, travel and equipment.
  7. Utilizing Excel and/or ViewPoint (or other software) enters data related to man-hours, materials, equipment, travel time, over-night accommodations, etc. in support of billing customer(s) for services. 
  8. Enters data into daily schedule, including employees and equipment for contract and emergency work.
  9. Acts as liaison between field-based operations and administrative/office for purposes of ensuring accurate and timely communication of information.
  10. Participates in weekend and holiday duty rotations.
  11. May maintain CDL Driver Qualification Files.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned in support of Cranemasters’ operations.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience: 

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; prior experience in Timberline or ViewPoint preferred.
  2. Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  3. Must be capable of completing reports and associated paperwork accurately and while meeting established deadlines.
  4. Prior experience in field-based business such as construction preferred.
  5. Must be able to develop and utilize knowledge of maps and routing in order to be an effective partner with Cranemasters’ operational units. 
  6. Must project professional image to customers, co-workers and general public.
  7. Able to read, write and speak English.
  8. Periodically fills in on other shifts in order to accommodate vacations, training, etc. 

Physical Demands: 

  1. Ability to answer phones in order to assist customers.
  2. Walking / carrying / lifting items associated with normal office work (not to exceed 50 lbs).

 

Note: This is not a 9-5 job.  Cranemasters is a 24/7 emergency service provider to the railroad industry and as such, the Logistics Specialist will be subject to work outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays. Possible alternating shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd shifts).

 

Required Certifications and Licenses: 

  1. Valid Driver’s License.
  2. Associates Degree in business or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
