Overview

This position is responsible for the strategic overview and tactical day-to-day management of the Logistics Department and will be expected to drive operational effectiveness and efficiency improvements throughout the system, ensure regulatory compliance, deliver expense management and support the safety and security of the logistics department.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Develop strategic vision and implement operational goals for the logistics department aligned with corporate strategy.
  2. Direct the daily work of the logistics specialists in compliance with company policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
  3. Uses knowledge/skills/abilities to transform the logistics function into a fully integrated part of company operations, partnering with each Division and Department/Functional leader to ensure efficient and effective movement of personnel and equipment to satisfy customer needs, while providing accurate and timely information to all stakeholders.
  4. Responsible for compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
  5. Develop, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive both internal logistics functional performance improvements and broader operational performance improvements.
  6. Identify software programs that allow for “real-time” tracking of all men/vehicles/equipment. Software must be compatible with company’s ERP system. Must implement program(s) and ensure that logistics specialists are fully trained and able to utilize such programs.
  7. Responsible for training, coaching and developing logistics specialists.  Provide feedback on a regular basis to promote continuous learning and improvement of staff members.  Completes and delivers performance evaluations as expected.
  8. Develop and maintain manuals, policies and procedures in support of Logistics function ensuring that all members of the department have access to information for reference during assigned shift.
  9. Develop, implement and maintain plans for 24/7 support of field operations and customer support. Seeks alternatives to standard 8-hour shifts to attract and retain qualified staff.
  10. Ensure that logistics specialists are trained and proficient in daily duties
  11. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required Travel:  As necessary for exposure to field-based operations, training /seminars and attending meetings.

 

Subordinate Positions:  Logistics Specialists

 

Immediate Supervisor’s Title:         CFO

                                                           

Required Skills and Experience:

 

  1. Bachelors degree in related field and 10 years related experience
  2. Must be organized and motivated to achieve results through team based work
  3. Knowledge of applicable state, local and federal transportation regulations.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with internal stakeholders and partners as well as external providers and regulators.
  5. Proficient computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365 required.
  6. Prior experience in Timberline by Sage / Vista by ViewPoint software packages a plus.
  7. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work well under pressure.
  9. Prior experience in logistics for complex field-based operations/business preferred.
  10. Able to read, write and speak English.

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

  1. Walking / carrying / lifting items associated with normal office work (not to exceed 50 lbs)

 

 

Required Certifications and Licenses:

 

  1. Valid Driver’s License.
