Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Logistics Department.  Key responsibility/service indicator: obtaining permits for transportation of over-weight and over-sized trucks/equipment while meeting 1-hour time limit for crew members to deploy in response to calls for emergency services.  Responsible for dispatching field crews to work sites, and disseminating information to designated contacts in accounting/billing department (includes, but is not limited to: man-hours, materials used, and equipment/vehicles deployed for both scheduled and non-scheduled/emergency work).  Work is performed with an emphasis on the safety of personnel and safe transportation of equipment/vehicles.



  • Responsible for training and development of Logistics Specialists ensuring proficiency in carrying-out assigned job duties.
  • Proactively communicates information and provides updates to Logistics Specialists regarding regulatory changes (D.O.T., FMCSA, FRA, etc.), routing changes/issues, operational issues, out-of-service/return-to-service of equipment/vehicles, changes/enhancements in procedures/processes and other information/data that impacts daily work activities and outcomes.
  • Develops and maintains manuals/policies/procedures in support of Logistics functions ensuring that Specialists have access for utilization/job accomplishment.
  • Acts as liaison between field-based operations and Logistics Specialists ensuring clear and concise communications and informational exchanges.
  • Utilizes knowledge/skills/abilities to ensure that Logistics is fully integrated with field-based operations working hand-in-hand with each Division to ensure efficient movement of men and equipment.
  • Regularly works 2nd and 3rd shifts to ensure Logistics Specialists are provided guidance and support in order that they may meet performance expectations and to provide regular/relevant feedback and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Minimum of five years prior work experience in logistics/dispatching for complex field-based operations/business. High School Diploma/GED supplemented by training/education that would be the equivalent of an associates’ degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; prior experience in Timberline/ViewPoint preferred.
  • Must have knowledge/skill/ability to read maps, ensure proper routing and obtain permits for over-weight and over-sized equipment/trucks Strong and proactive communication skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of D.O.T./FMCSA regulations; preference for knowledge/experience of FRA regulations.
  • Must be highly organized and capable accurately completing reports while meeting established deadlines.



  • Ability to answer phones to assist customers, answer questions, dispatch crews and communicate information with direct impact on operations and emergency response situations.
  • Working extended hours.
  • Ability to perform tasks under stressful conditions.
  • Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, standing, and / or walking.


NOTE:  Cranemasters is a 24/7 emergency service provider to the railroad industry and as such, the Driver/Operator is subject to work outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
