    Responsibilities

    Responsible for repair of railroad cars for customers of Cranemasters and other tasks as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.  Must accomplish work assignments while ensuring safety, efficiency, and work quality.  Employees are subject to emergency call-out.  In addition, while this position is a part of the Railcar Repair Department, work assignments are subject to change.  Although fairly consistent, shifts and hours of work are also subject to change.

    Qualifications

    Skills and Experience: 

    1. Possesses technical skills necessary to carry out welding and fabrication assignments.
    2. Ability to Stick Weld in Vertical, Horizontal and Overhead positions. 
    3. Thorough understanding of and adherence to safety policies and procedures.
    4. Must project positive and professional image to customers and co-workers.
    5. Must pass qualification tests as required (examples: CPR, First Aid, etc.).
    6. Ability to learn and understand major freight car components.
    7. Ability to learn and understand AAR (The Association of American Railroads)  welding specifications
    8. Strong communication skills 

    Physical Demands: 

    1. Constantly on feet
    2. Walking / carrying loads on uneven surfaces and in ballast.
    3. Working in ALL weather conditions.
    4. Working extended hours.
    5. Constant bending, twisting, stooping, standing and / or walking.
    6. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds; loads more than 50 pounds and which can be reduced, shall be made lighter.

    Required Certifications and Licenses:

     

    1. Valid Driver’s License.
    2. Must have ability to obtain AWS certification.
    3. Must be able to obtain ERail Ceritification for access to railroad property
    4. CSX On-Track Safety.
    5. Other certifications will be obtained as required.
